Minnie Augusta Eckhardt was born in the province of Posen, Germany, on September 26, 1878, the daughter of John and Olelia (Pliantz) Fenske. There she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In her youth she came with her parents to America and resided near Easton, Minnesota. Later, they moved to Boyd and in 1897 she was united in marriage with Frederick Eckhardt at Zion Lutheran Church in Tyro Township, by Rev. August Hillger. This union was blessed with five daughters and six sons, four of whom died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, four daughters: Mrs. Paul Peterson of Boyd, Minnesota, Mrs. Richard Drew and Mrs. Louella Morris of Whittier, California, and Mrs. Gerald Johnson of Delano, Minnesota; three sons: Alfred and Oscar of Boyd, and Wilfred of Storden, Minnesota. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Gerald Butler of Minneapolis; one brother, William Lillenthal of Brook Park, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Eckhardt has resided with her husband at Bancroft, Iowa, Mora, Minnesota, and Nassau, Minnesota, and for the past fifty years lived in Boyd, Minnesota. She suffered a stroke and on Thursday, August 25th, 1955, the Lord graciously called her to Himself at the age of 76 years and eleven months.
