(Refseth) Hermanson
September 2, 1905 – April 8, 1997
Minnie O. (Refseth) Hermanson was born September 2, 1905 in Camp Release Township to parents Peder and Olea Refseth. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter Township. She attended and graduated from Montevideo High School and attended Windom College in Montevideo. She taught in Country Schools in the Montevideo area following her teachers training. Minnie married Durven E. Hermanson on August 29, 1928 at Our Saviours Church of Baxter. To this union were born four sons: DeRoy, Donald, Vernel, and Roger. Minnie and Durven lived in the Boyd area most of their life, except for a few years when they lived in Veblen, South Dakota, where they had a John Deere Implement business. They later owned and operated a John Deere business in Clarkfield. Minnie moved to Dawson following the death of Durven. She lived there until she entered the Clarkfield Care Center. She passed away at the Care Center on Tuesday, April 8, 1997 at the age of 91 years, 7 months, and 7 days. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd. She belonged to the Dorcus and WELCA Groups, and also was a member of the Chatter Clatter Homemakers Group of Boyd. She was an organist for Trinity Church and played piano for the choir, weddings, funerals, and many other music groups. Minnie loved music. She is survived by her sons: Vernel (and Janice) Hermanson of Boyd, Roger (and Madalynn) Hermanson of Clarkfield and daughter-in-law Betty (and Palmer) Grinager of Boyd and 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Edwin Refseth of Minneapolis and one sister-in-law Esther Refseth of Marshall, and brothers-in-law George Hermanson, Art (and Lucille) Hermanson and sister-in-law Jorgina (and Norman) Anderson and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Peder and Olea Refseth; her husband, Durven; infant son DeRoy; son Donald; great-grandson Ole Norman; and brothers Olaf and Palmer and sister Cora Refseth. Minnie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.
