Milton Christian Johnson was born near Clarkfield, Minnesota, June 23, 1920, of the parents Jonas and Hilda (Dotseth) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Spring Creek Lutheran Church. He attended grade school in the Spring Creek and Clarkfield schools, and graduated from the Clarkfield High School in 1938. During World War II he served his country well in the Army of the United States with the 95th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theatre of Operations. He entered the service in May 1942 and received his honorable discharge in October 1945. After the war he was employed for several years at the Consumers Co-op Oil Company. Since 1958 he has made his home with his aunt Mamie Knox in Granite Falls. On December 7, 1969, he became suddenly ill and was taken to the Granite Falls Hospital and on the 9th was transferred to the Veterans Hsopital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he ramained until his passing on December 28, 1969, at the age of 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to mourn his departure a brother, Abner and wife of Baraboo, Wisconsin; an aunt, Mrs. Mamie Knox, Granite Falls, Minnesota; and Uncle, Albert Johnson, Montevideo, Minnesota; besides many relatives and a host of friends.
