IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Miller E.
Hanson
February 16, 1897 – July 5, 1934
Miller E. Hanson was born February 16, 1897, in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Hans R. and Malene Hanson. He was baptized by Rev. O.C. Farseth in Clarkfield Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in the same church by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. Miller attended the public school in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County, where his parents moved to the farm now occupied by Miller's brother, Roy Hanson and family. He was preparing to enter the military service of his country when World War I ended in November, 1918. After farming for a few years, Miller went to Flint, Michigan, where he was employed at the Buick Auto Works for several years. Returning to Minnesota, Mr. Hanson worked several years for road building contractors. On July 5, 1934, Miller was united in marriage to Miss Florence French of Morris, Minnesota. The young couple moved to Detroit, Michigan, where Mr. Hanson was employed by Garwood Industries for a number of years. It has always been Mr. Hanson's ambition to own a dairy farm, so when the time seemed right the Hansons came back to Minnesota and purchased a farm west of Starbuck, Minnesota. Just as things were beginning to improve in agriculture, Mr. Hanson was stricken with paralysis. The farm and dairy herd had to be sold, and Mr. and Mrs. Hanson moved back to Detroit. He seemed to be on the road to recovery for a while, but it was not to be that he would ever go back to work. About two weeks ago, he suffered a severe paralytic stroke from which he rallied momentarily. Friday afternoon, December 16, 1955, however, Mr. Hanson passed quietly away at a Detroit hospital. Surviving Mr. Hanson, besides his wife, are three sisters and three brothers: Annie (Mrs. Martin Jurgenson), Gertrude (Mrs. N.E. Nelson) of Clarkfield, Rachel (Mrs. Raymond Friberg) of Eugene, Oregon, Roy and Kenneth Hanson of Clarkfield, and Theodore Hanson of Sioux City, Iowa. Preceding Mr. Hanson in death were his parents, and two sisters, Rachel, who died as a little child and Malene. May God bless the memory of a well-loved husband and brother. IN MEMORY OF MILLER E.
