Milfred Sander Jacobson was born May 13, 1912 to Eugene and Anna (Mickelson) Jacobson in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He moved with his family to North Dakota in 1921. He attended school in Hazel Run, MN, graduating from Walhalla, ND High School in 1930. He returned to Minnesota in 1930 and lived with his Grandma Mickelson until his marriage to Esther Vold on April 30, 1933 in Hazel Run. They lived in Granite Falls, MN from 1933-1940 where he worked for the Highway Department. He lived and farmed near Hazel Run, MN the remainder of his adult life. Milfred sang with the Hazel Run Male Chorus, the Male Quartet, the Church Choir and he played in the Hazel Run Band. He was a Deacon and Trustee of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He retired from the Hazel Run Fire Department, was a long-time member of the City Council, a Board Member of the Clarkfield, MN Creamery, and an active member of the community. Milfred passed away on Thursday, May 22, 1997 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital at the age of 85 years and 10 days. He is survived by his wife Esther; sister, Anne Arthur of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Arlyss Jacobson of Hazel Run; two grandsons, Michael (and Marcia) Jacobson of Bonney Lake, WA and Bradley (and Barb) Jacobson of Hazel Run; two great-granddaughters, Michelle and Miranda Jacobson of Bonney Lake, WA; two great-grandsons, Brett and Barry Jacobson of Hazel Run and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Duane; brother, Earl; and sister, Ada Short. Blessed be his memory.
