Mildred Francis Randall was born on June 25, 1915, at Granite Falls, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ira and Clara (Nolton) Gatchell. She grew up in Granite Falls and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1932. Mildred was united in marriage to Hosea Randall on March 14, 1935, in South Dakota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Joel and Jane. Mildred and Hosea lived their entire married life along the shores of Lac qui Parle Lake, running a resort and cafe. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, and her sewing club. Mildred also took great joy in spending time with her customers who often times became part of her extended family. Mildred enjoyed returning to her childhood farm and spending time with her mother, brothers, sisters, and friends around Granite Falls. Mildred became a resident of Luther Haven in Montevideo, Minnesota, nine years ago. She passed away at Luther Haven on Friday, September 23, 2005, at the age of 90 years and 2 months. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Randall, of Milan, Minnesota, and grandchildren, Roy Randall of Bellingham, Minnesota, Rita Connick of Appleton, Minnesota, Jay Randall of Big Bend, Minnesota, Jeff Randall of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and Jason Randall of Milan, Minnesota; and Great Grandchildren, Ron Randall and Randy (Sandy) Randall. Also surviving are her sisters: Ruby (and Frank) Clendenin of Watertown, South Dakota, and Grace (and Ornie) Alness of Clarkfield, Minnesota; brother Howard (and Florence) Gatchell of Granite Falls, Minnesota; step daughter-in-law Peg Randall; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 42 years; son Joel; stepson Claude Randall; sisters: Cora Gatchell, Sylvia Johnson, and Luella Kirschbaum; and brother Milton Gatchell.
