Melvin Elliot Wilson, 85, died July 22, 1986, at Granite Falls Memorial Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 1986, at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minnesota, with Pastor William Klavetter officiating. Mrs. Duane Jacobson was organist, and Loren Norgaard provided solo music. Honorary Casket Bearers were Henry Halvorson, Murl Isaacs, Milfred Jacobson and Sam Norgaard. Active Casket Bearers were Duane Jacobson, Kelly Johnson, Loren Norgaard, Duane Thompson, Gaylen Wilson and Walter Wilson. Final Resting Place is the Hazel Run Lutheran Cemetery, Hazel Run, Minnesota. Melvin was born on October 12, 1900, in Hazel Run to Gullick and Nelia (Halvorson) Wilson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He attended college and worked in Mankato. On May 22, 1922, he was united in marriage to Loretta Hackbarth of Nicollet, Minnesota. The following year, their only child, Violet was born. Later, the family moved to the family farmstead near Hazel Run where they farmed until retiring to Granite Falls in June of 1965. He is survived by his daughter, Violet Long and his grandaughter, Bonnie Cordes both of Hazel Run. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and one sister.
