Melvin Joseph Skaug, more commonly known as "Goody", was born in Clarkfield on May 21, 1894, to parents Jergon and Josephine Skaug. He grew up and lived in Clarkfield all his life. He was in the barber business all his adult life, retiring in 1960. He was baptized in the Norwegian Lutheran Church. At the time of his death, he belonged to the Augustana Lutheran Church. Melvin was married on January 6, 1919, to Jessie Crafts of Edgerton, Minnesota. To this union four daughters were born: Yvonne Lien of St. Paul, Plyllis Goltz of San Diego, California, Clarice Skaug of St. Paul, and Barbara Vik of Clarkfield. He passed away on Friday, May 5, 1972, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife; four daughters; sisters: Ema Flugstad and Athalia Skaug, both of Minneapolis; six grandchildren, namely: Brian Lien of Minneapolis, Cheryl McCammon of St. Paul, Gene, Greg and Gordy Goltz of California, and Lisa Vik of Clarkfield; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, six other brothers and two sisters. In Memory Of MELVIN J.
