Melvin George Jorgenson was born on February 7, 1907 in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County near Hanley Falls, Minnesota to parents Thor and Kjersti (Foss) Jorgenson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Melvin was united in marriage to Evelyn Zempel on November 27, 1938. Melvin loved the farm and spent most of his life working the soil. Melvin and Evelyn lived on their farm until 1991, when they moved to Clarkfield. He was a member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. He passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Thursday, January 8, 1998 at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 24 days. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Clarkfield, and four children: Glen, Kenneth, Ardith, and Howard. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Blessed be his memory.
