Melvin L. Applewick was born in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Amos and Mary (Grevstad) Applewick on June 23, 1904. He was baptized and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. Melvin married Anna Sabe on May 4, 1943, in Dawson, Minnesota. They have one son, Allen Applewick. Melvin lived in Tyro Township most of his life where he was engaged in farming. Melvin was a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, for the past 18 months where he passed away on Sunday, December 9, 1990, at the age of 86 years. Melvin has been an active member of the Israel Lutheran congregation where he served as a church trustee, on the cemetery board, and as church custodian for ten years. Melvin is survived by his wife, Anna of Clarkfield; son, Allen of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Hilmer Applewick of Granite Falls, Minnesota; and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Minnie) Anderson of Clarkfield and Mrs. Don (Cecil) Berg of Waterford, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Josie Anderson.
