Maynard Allard Martin was born July 24, 1914, to Albert and Emma (Nelson) Martin in Porter, Minnesota. He was baptized May 9, 1915, at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, Minnesota. He was confirmed June 3, 1956, at Faith Lutheran Church in Coquille, Oregon. He attended High School in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Allard married Mildred Swenson December 6, 1939, in Montevideo, Minnesota. They lived in the Clarkfield, Minnesota and Montevideo, Minnesota, areas while Allard worked several jobs and farmed. Later he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad in Montevideo, Minnesota. There were four children born to this couple: Larry, Emelie, Lynn, and Karri. Allard and Mildred lived a number of years in Bandon, Oregon where he worked at the lumber mills. They also lived at Compton and Riverside, California, where Allard worked at Robert Shaw Controls in Long Beach, California. After a number of years they moved to Rossville, Georgia where they worked at First Baptist Church of Rossville as custodians for 13 years. In April 1991 they moved to Hibbing, Minnesota. Allard died Wednesday, June 26, 1991 at the Mesabi Regional Medical Center in Hibbing, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years and 11 months. Allard is survived by his wife Mildred; son, Larry and his wife Wanda Martin of Henagar, Alabama; daughter, Emelie M. Thronson of Hibbing, Minnesota; son, Lynn and his wife Nancy Martin of Flint, Michigan; daughter, Karri and her husband Geoff Hauan of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also five siblings: brother, Lloyd and his wife Martha of Green Isle, Minnesota; brother, Wilfred and his wife Margaret of Hazel Run, Minnesota; brother, Marvin and his wife Eleanore of Vancouver, Washington; brother, Myron and his wife Hazel of Hanley Falls, Minnesota; brother, Ordell and his wife Virginia of Park Rapids, Minnesota; and sister, Phyllis and her husband Orville Hveem, of Piedmont, South Dakota. Allard was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, and sister Pauline Froland.
