Mayme L. Kompelien was born June 15, 1927 to parents Ancel and Clara (Johnson) Hanson, near Cottonwood, Minnesota. She was baptized July 31, 1927 and confirmed August 18, 1941 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church at Cottonwood, Minnesota. On November 8, 1947 Mayme married Raymond Komplien at Christ Lutheran Parsonage, at Cottonwood, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Michael, Bruce, Luanne and Lori. Mayme was a member of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and was active in the music department. She was a member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She was Yellow Medicine County Auditor for four years and Deputy County Auditor for 12 years. She enjoyed sewing, music, flowers, gardening and canning. Mayme Kompelien died at the Granite Falls Hospital Tuesday, July 6, 1994 at the age of 67 years. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Kompelien; sons: Michael (wife, Karen), of Willmar, Minnesota, Bruce (wife, Elaine) of Maynard; daughters: Mrs. Luanne (Greg) Knutson of Wood Lake, Minnesota, Mrs. Lori (Tom) O'Connor, of Granite Falls, Minnesota; grandchildren: Laura and Chad Kompelien, Heather, Krystal and Luke Kompelien, Jessica Knutson, Katy and John O'Connor; four sisters: Mrs. Lloyd (Dorothy) Litchy of Plymouth, Minnesota, Mrs. Lowell (Alnora) Pederson of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Mrs. Harold (Mary) Schwisow of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Mrs. John (Susan) Kubiszewski of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; brother: Clifford Hanson, Cottonwood, Minnesota; three sisters-in-law: Mary Hanson, Bay St. Louis, Missouri, Dee Hanson, Barrington, Illinois, Mary Hanson, Glenolden, Pennsylvania, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ancel and Clara Hanson; brothers: Harland, Robert and Marvin.
