Maye Olivia Wilson was born on May 27, 1894, in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Carl A. and Inger (Berkvam) Brekke. She was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed in Swede Home Lutheran Church in 1909. She attended public school in Swede Prairie and Clarkfield. On June 28, 1916, she was united in marriage to Herbert Wilson and they established their home on their farm north of Hazel Run where they lived until 1946 when they moved into Hazel Run. She was active in many community and church affairs, having been president of both the Bergen and Hazel Run Lutheran Ladies Aids, a charter member of the Hazel Run Legion Auxiliary, 4-H Leader, and an enthusiastic member of the Farm Bureau, Roadside Homemakers, the Yellow Medicine County Historical Society and others. She lived a happy and useful life until the evening of July 25, when she was fatally injured in an automobile accident. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin brothers, her husband, in 1951, infant son, Oliver Carl. She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Curtis, Donald and Leslie of Hazel Run, Herbert of Boyd, Minnesota, and Lila (Mrs. Richard Lynne) of Cottonwood, Minnesota; one brother, Oscar Brekke of Albee, South Dakota; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
