July 19, 1903 – April 23, 1970
Maye Albertina Anderson Oakland was born July 19, 1903, in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Peter and Jetta (Bertilson) Anderson. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at an early age and confirmed at the Swede Home Church on July 8, 1917, by Rev. Emil O. Valberg. On January 3, 1921, she was united in marriage to Lars Oakland. Ten children were born to this union. Mrs. Oakland passed away Thursday, April 23, 1970, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 66 years. She had been frequently hospitalized due to a heart ailment. She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; her husband, Lars, August 12, 1937; a daughter, Shirley, July 25, 1944, both as the result of accidents; also by her parents; four brothers and three sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing, six sons and two daughters, namely: Vivian (Mrs. Sidney Knutson) of Minneota, Minnesota, Juell, Maurice and Leonard, of Clarkfield, Merlyn of Minneota, Virdell of Glenwood, Minnesota, Marlys (Mrs. John Londgren) of Clarkfield, and Lars Maynard of Hector, Minnesota; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandson; and a brother, Alvin Anderson of Granite Falls, Minnesota.
