Maybelle Stensrud was born February 27, 1896, to Oscar and Anna (Broughton) Stensrud and baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. She attended school in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, and nurses training at Dawson, Minneapolis General Hospital, and Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Maybelle was Hospital Administrator at Mandan Hospital in Mandan, North Dakota, for ten years, and administrator at Francis Hahan Deaconess in Glasgow, Montana, for 20 years. She retired in May of 1962 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she lived until her recent illness. She returned to Minneota, Minnesota, in October of 1977, where she lived with her brother, Marvin, for five months. The last months she has been a resident of the Minneota Manor. Miss Stensrud passed away Sunday, November 26, 1978, at the Minneota Manor at the age of 82 years. Survivors are three brothers: Carl and Orvin of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Marvin of Minneota, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
