Mathilda Cornelius Jacobson was born on September 16, 1891, to Peder and Maren (Opsahl) Cornelius in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, where she spent her youth and attended grade school. She was baptized and confirmed in Bergen Lutheran Church. On September 6, 1914, she was united in marriage to Henry A. Jacobson of Clarkfield, Minnesota. This union was blessed with one son, Henry, Jr. In the fall of 1928, Tillie was stricken with polio, and had been confined to her wheel chair the past 31 years. She was loving and kind in spite of her handicap and kept her home in perfect condition. Her many friends and neighbors admired her for her patience. After an illness of several weeks, she passed away at ther home on March 23, 1960, at 68 years of age. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, her son, Henry, Jr., and his wife, Donna, and three grandchildren: Lynn, Yvette and Dick Jacobson of Brainerd, Minnesota; three sisters: Mrs. Caroline Trelstad of Montevideo, Minnesota, Nicoline (Mrs. Andrew Olien) of Waseca, Minnesota, Mrs. Minnie Thompson of Milan, Minnesota; four brothers: Oscar of Rosholt, South Dakota, Elmer of New Effington, South Dakota, John and Conrad Cornelius of Clarkfield; one half-brother, Leonard Cornelius of Whittier, California; and a host of relatives and friends.
