Mary Helena Orres was born in Dodge County near Kasson, Minnesota, on November 3, 1884, to George and Inger (Severson) Severts. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. At an early age she moved with her parents to a farm near Clarkfield where she grew to young womanhood. She was confirmed by Rev. O.C. Farseth in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. On February 22, 1905, she was married to Oliver Orres of Humboldt, Iowa. They were married by Rev. J.B. Reinertson in the same church. This union was blessed with six children, namely, George, who lives on the home place, Berenice of Nan Nuys, California, Inez (Mrs. Clarence Berg) of Akeley, Minnesota, Lawrence of Clarkfield, Raymond of Edgerton, Minnesota, and Evelyn (Mrs. Dale Allison) of Omaha, Nebraska. Mrs. Orres and her husband farmed in Gardner, North Dakota, many years before coming to Clarkfield. She passed away September 16, 1961, at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years. Her husband, parents and one grandchild, Kenneth Berg, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her six children, six grandchildren, a foster sister, Mrs. John Barnholtz of Sioux City, Iowa, relatives and friends. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
