Obituary

Marie Wilhelmina Schlee Gebers was born in Roddon, Germany, on September 19, 1880. In 1882, with her parents, Ludwig Schlee and Wilhelmina (Thomes) Schlee, she immigrated to America. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She grew to womanhood on her parental farm near Adair, Iowa. On February 25, 1903, she was united in marriage to Herman H. Gebers by the Rev. C. Cloester. The young couple farmed near Adair for eight years and then moved to Clarkfield in 1911. They operated their farm just west of Clarkfield until 11 years ago when they retired and moved to their home in town, where she passed away last Friday. The couple was blessed with five children, four of whom are living. They include one daughter, Ellnora (Mrs. Gifford Maursetter) of Clarkfield; four sons: Arthur of Didsbury, Alberta, Canada, Lavern of Clarkfield, Kenneth of Quincy, Washington, and Earl, deceased. Mr. Gebers passed away six years ago in October, 1955. Mrs. Gebers passed away February 10, 1961, at the age of 80 years. Surviving Mrs. Gebers besides her children are 13 grandchildren; two brothers: William Schlee of Adair, Iowa, and Martin Schlee of Clarkfield; and one sister, Mrs. Ed Rogge of Clarkfield.
