Obituary

Mary Anna Lund was born of the parents, Jens and Secelia Lund near the town of Norway in Benton County, Iowa, on January 14, 1868. She was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith. At the age of nine years, she together with her parents, brothers and sisters moved to Thor, Iowa, in Humboldt County. She was confirmed in Ullensvang congregation by Rev. Sauer. On December 1, 1886, she was united in marriage with John A. Olson of Duncombe, Iowa. A foster son, Otis Payne, a nephew of Mr. Olson became a member of the family about two years after their marriage. Seven children were born to this union: Selma (Mrs. M.J. Mikelson) of Spokane, Washington, Jennie (Mrs. J.M. Haaland) of Northfield, Minnesota, Clarence of Clarkfield, Laura (Mrs. T. Amdahl) of Richmond, California, Edna (Mrs. Henry E. Johnson) and Arnold of Clarkfield, and Cecelia (Mrs. T. Ueland) of Rosemount, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Olson also fostered two other children, Evelyn (Mrs. G.C. Listul) of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Carmody Helgeson, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Olson passed away March 10, 1959, at the Ebenezer Home in Minneapolis at the age of 91 years. Her husband preceded her in death on April 13, 1956. She had 49 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren. IN MEMORY OF MRS. JOHN A.
