Obituary

Marvin Stensrud was born on November 14, 1909, at the home of his parents Oscar and Anna (Broughton) Stensrud, in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. He was baptized as an infant and renewed his baptismal vows through confirmation on May 23, 1923, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. Marvin married Beatrice Orine Johnson in Valley City, North Dakota, on October 14, 1933. To this union were born four sons and one daughter: Donovan, Derald, Larry, Rodney, and Bonnie. Marvin and Beatrice farmed in Westerheim Township for many years. They moved to Minneota, Minnesota, on August 16, 1968. Marvin married Betty (Hansen) Geihl on April 25, 1981. They had made their home in Minneota until he entered the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home, Marshall, Minnesota, on June 28, 2001. He was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church, where he served as a church Trustee. He also belonged to the Farmers Union, Rotary, and was a member of the Westerheim Township Board. Marvin passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Weiner Memorial Nursing Home at the age of 91 years, 7 months, and 24 days. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Minneota, his children: Donovan (and Shirley) of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Larry (and Ann) of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Rodney (and Lonna) of Minneota, Minnesota, and Bonnie (and Ralph) Walker of Oakland, California. Also surviving are nine grandsons; one granddaughter; fourteen great grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. They are Brad, Chery and Jessie, Jamie, and Jodie; Tim, Julie and Jason, Joshua, and Elsie; Brian, Lyn and Jessica O. and Jesse B.; Tamara Stensrud; Kirk, Kristen and Ellen, and Easton; Kyle, Jodie, and Ethan; Chad, Cheryl and Olivia, and Hannah; Eric, Melinda and Logan, and Rachel; and Nathan, and Aaron Walker. He is also survived by step children: Gary and Monica Geihl and Laura, Michael, and Renae; Peggy Hames, and Brandon, Glenn and Lois Geihl and Craig, and Lisa. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice in 1980; son, Derald; great grandson, Tanner; and brothers: John, Carl, and Orven; and sisters: Nettie, Mary, Maybelle, and Lena.
