IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Garfield
Loken
October 29, 1899 – August 22, 2016
Marvin Garfield Loken was born October 29, 1899, in Swede Prairie Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Lars and Marie (Auflem) Loken. He was confirmed in St. Lucas Lutheran Church by Rev. Romstad. He received his draft notice for World War I just previous to the signing of the Armistice, so he was not required to serve in that capacity. In 1919 the family moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where he resided all his life with the exception of a short time when he worked in Flint, Michigan. He had various occupations but was best known as a cement worker and in later years for bicycle repairing. Marvin's heath failed the last few years and he entered the Clarkfield Care Center. He was in the Clarkfield Hospital a short while, then taken to the University Heart Hospital where it was thought he was getting along fine when he suffered a heart attack. On August 22, he was taken to the Coronary Care Center where he was improving daily. On Tuesday afternoon, August 27, 1974, he passed away suddenly from another heart attack. He is survived by sisters: Minnie Axline of Fayette, Iowa, Anne Dahl of Minneapoilis, and LuElla Larson of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; brother Elwyn of Waukegan, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Nora Loken of Clarkfield. He also leaves to mourn his passing: nieces: Eunnice Carras, Audrey Dye, Wilva Borgen, Ramona Willander, Dorothy Zimmerman and Kathryn Bastyr; and nephews: Vernon Swennes, Lawrence and Albert Loken, Llewellyn and Robert Axline and many neighbors and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters: Louise Barnes of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Clara Loken of Belview, Minnesota; and brothers: Ludwig of Detroit, Michican, and Albert of Clarkfield.
