IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Lorenz
Kaatz
February 20, 1910 – June 6, 1978
Marvin Lorenz Kaatz was born February 20, 1910, at Sheldon, North Dakota, the son of Minnie (Wolsky) and Emil Kaatz. He was baptized and confirmed in the same church, the Pontiac Lutheran Church of Enderlin, North Dakota. Marvin attended grade school at Enderlin and graduated from Sheldon, North Dakota High School. Following graduation, he worked on farms in his home area and then went to Grove City, Minnesota, in the fall of 1938 where he worked until entering the army in February of 1941. He served four years and eight months with three of those in the southwest Pacific. After his service, he returned to Grove City where he worked on the highway until 1946 when he began his career as a clerk at the post office. In 1950, he transferred to Clarkfield and took over rural route two which he faithfully served until his retirement on February 25th, 1977. On March 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Rosella Nelson of Grove City. However, the happy event wasn't announced until he brought his bride to Clarkfield in June when he secured living quarters in the Schlee Apartments. Later, he and his bride moved to the Zelgart Apartment and in August of 1952 purchased the Clarence Weeks home when that family left for Arizona. Here the family resides and where he departed this life on Tuesday morning, June 6th, passing away in his sleep. He reached the age of 68 years, three months and 15 days. Marvin and Lorraine are the parents of six children, namely: Martin, Kermit, both at home, Marie (Mrs. Robert Andersen) of Waseca, Stanley (married to Karen Hanson) of Benson, Minnesota, Patricia and Karl, at home. The family has been members of Augustana Lutheran Church all the while they resided in Clarkfield. There Marvin was active in church work, also serving on the board. At the same church the couple observed their silver anniversary two years ago with open house. Marvin was a jovial, loving dad and husband and will be greatly missed by his wife, family, relatives and a host of friends. Along with his wife and children, he is survived by two brothers: Ed of Enderlin, North Dakota and Art of Bismark, North Dakota; two sisters: Alice (Mrs. George Schatzke) of Enderlin, North Dakota and Elva (Mrs. Harvey Lund) of Eugene, Oregon. Preceding him in death are his parents; an infant sister, Ella; brother and his wife, Elmer and Lucy Kaatz of Buchanan, North Dakota. IN MEMORY OF MARVIN L.
