Marvin Gilbert Anderson was born to Gilbert and Mathilda Anderson on March 19, 1925, on the family farm, where he resided for 81 years. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minnesota. He attended Clarkfield High School, where he excelled in football and graduated in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was a Machinist third Class. He was also in the Reserve for two years and received several medals. On November 7, 1948, he married Pernilla Kompelien. They had been married for 58 years and farmed the family farm. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Marcella, Ronald, Pamela and Maurice. Marvin and Pernilla were also blessed with 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Marvin enjoyed spending time at Maple Lake, Minnesota, fishing, hunting, golfing, and time with family and friends. He liked to spend time in Hazel Run with friends playing cards and living life to the fullest. He also served on the elevator and town boards and several church offices. Marvin passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, on Saturday, June 10, 2006, after a few days stay. He died at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 22 days. He is survived by wife Pernilla, son-in-law Byron Handeland of Clarkfield, Ronald (Doris) Anderson of Groton, South Dakota, Pamela (James) Williams of Clarkfield, and Maurice (Sheryl) Anderson of Clarkfield; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is sister Eunice Anderson of Clarkfield; brothers: Arley (Betty) Anderson of Tucson, Arizona, and Erling (Stina) Anderson of Clarkfield; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mathilda Anderson; baby twins Anderson; daughter Marcella Handeland; brothers Leon, Odean and Orville; and sisters Erva Tongen, Lela Larson, and Vernice Dahl.
