Marvin G. Anderson was born September 18, 1905, to Gunval and Anna (Olson) Anderson at the family farm in Vallers Township, rural Cottonwood, Minnesota. Marvin was baptized and confirmed in St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township, Minnesota. He attended country school in District 56. Marvin married Martha (Skogen) Olson, widow of Harry Olson, at Martha's home in rural Heron Lake, Minnesota, on June 5, 1943. He was a farmer all his life and also a seed corn salesman for Funks & Pride. Marvin is well remembered for sharing his skill at carding wool and demonstrating his spinning wheel at area threshing shows, school classrooms and centennials. Martha and Marvin enjoyed returning yearly to Mt. Carmel Bible Camp near Alexandria, Minnesota, where they had originally met. He was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church all of his life. When there was time, Marvin liked to fish. Marvin died Wednesday, July 23, 1992, at the age of 86, in the Parkview Home of Belview, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Martha; foster son, Donald Lowe of rural Cottonwood, Minnesota; step son, Dayel Olson of Storden, Minnesota; brothers, John of the Clarkfield Care Center and George of rural Ruthton, Minnesota; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alma and Oline.
