Marvell Moen October 7th, 1928 - February 17th, 2017 Marvell Moen, of Dawson, died Friday, February 17, 2017, at her home at the age of 88. Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd with Rev. Lori Wold officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Marvell Carola Estling was born on October 7, 1928, in Ten Mile Lake Township to Carl and Hilda Marie (Haugen) Estling. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter. Marvell attended and graduated from Boyd High School. Marvell was united in marriage to Milo Moen on December 19, 1946 in Madison, MN. They lived on the farm in Lac qui Parle County until 2008 when they moved to Dawson. Marvell worked for Chandler Industries, Clarkfield Care Center in the laundry department, and the Dawson Nursing Home as a CNA. She also worked with Milo doing taping, texturing, and painting jobs. Marvell enjoyed square dancing, sewing, making quilts, baking, working in her garden, and flower beds, and Word Search puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends. She was involved with the Marvell Club and the Minnesota Valley Antique and Power Association. She enjoyed working and spending time at Heritage Hill. Marvell was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd where she had been a Sunday School teacher, participated in circle, quilting, and other activities with Trinity. She is survived by her four children; Dianne (Donovan) Wiegers, Doug (Jo) Moen, Lon (Sue) Moen, Wendy (Jeff) Nieuwbeerta; eight grandchildren: Cheri (Jeff) Panitzke, Jana (Chad) Erickson, Tara Moen (special friend Justin), Josh Moen (special friend Shelby), Zach Moen (fiance' Ashley), Chelsey (Matthew) Robertson, J.J. (Nekecia) Nieuwbeerta and Jeremy Nieuwbeerta (fiance' Kelsey); 14 great grandchildren: Caden, Makena and Alex Panitzke, Cole Erickson, Austin, Macy and Lexi Moen, Addi Moen, Hunter and Reid Robertson, Gabriella Lee, Rhylee and Owen Nieuwbeerta, Jacob Moore; brother, Owen Estling; sister, Iola (Benny) Peterson; sister-in-law, Janice Hermanson and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Milo in 2013; her parents; her father and mother-in- law; sister-in-law, Ardis Estling; and brother-in-law, Vernel Hermanson. Blessed be her memory.
