Martina Albeck was born August 3, 1872, on a farm in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of Tollef and Anna Sophia (Dalve) Tollefson. She was brought up in the Lutheran faith, was baptized and in 1887 confirmed by Rev. Knute Thorstenson in Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. She grew to womanhood in this community. In 1898 she left for Montana where she was employed as a seamstress and later she followed the same profession in Minneapolis. On July 26, 1905, she was united in marriage to Nels M. Albeck. They lived in Minneapolis several years, then in 1908 they moved to a farm near Hazel Run. To this union six children were born, namely: Paul of St. Paul, Enoch and Noren of Hanley Falls; and Ella (Mrs. Carles Schueler) of Los Angeles, California. Two sons died in infancy. In 1945 she moved to Hanley Falls where she resided until her death. Preceding her are her husband, Nels Albeck, two sons, her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Her passing is mourned by her children, Paul, Enoch, Noren and Ella, and three grandchildren, Douglas, Kurt and RaNae Albeck; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Johnson of Minneapolis, and two brothers, William Tollefson of Granite Falls and Alfred Tollefson of Oakland, California; also nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
