Martin Snartum was born in Minnesota, on October 6, 1886, the son of Mikkel Snartum and Ingrid (Tuftey) Snartum. He was baptized in St. Lucas Lutheran Church and was confirmed there by Pastor Romstad. All his life he lived in the local community. He was engaged in farming until about 1935 when he leased the farm and spent the winters in the city of Brownsville, Texas. He took seriously ill Tuesday, August 9th, 1955, and was taken to the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, on Friday, August 12th. He passed away Monday evening, August 15th, 1955, at the age of 68 years, ten months and nine days. He was preceded in death by his parents and by four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ida Rye of Ames, Iowa, and by seven nieces and nephews.
