Obituary

Martin Ludwig Schlee was born at Adair, Iowa, on February 18, 1888, the son of Ludwig and Wilhelmine (Tomes) Schlee. He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Adair, Iowa. He lived with his parents near Adair until 1912 when he came to Clarkfield, Minnesota, and farmed for two years while living with his sister, Mr. Herman Gebers. On February 25, 1915, he was united in marriage to Clara Rogge of Tyro Township. They lived on their farm two miles west and one and one-half miles south of Clarkfield for 34 years. They moved to Clarkfield where they have lived for 13 years. Mr. Schlee passed away June 4, 1962, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 74 years. Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Clara; three children, Roselyn (Mrs. Herbert Marquardt) of Glenwood, Minnesota, Marvel (Mrs. C.E. Skotterud) of Dawson, Minnesota, and Harlan Schlee of Nevis, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Howard Marquardt of Glenwood, Minnesota, Mary Beth Schlee of Nevis, Minnesota, and Steven Skotterud of Dawson, Minnesota; one brother, William Schlee of Adair, Iowa, and his sister, Mrs. Edd T. Rogge of Clarkfield. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Herman Gebers, preceded him in death. IN MEMORY OF MARTIN L.
