Obituary

Martin Rodness was born June 2, 1887, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, of the parents Hans and Anna Marie (Anderson) Rodness. He was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield, the latter by Rev. O.C. Farseth. He entered the Army in February 1918 and served his county overseas in France during the first World War, and received his honorable discharge on June 14, 1919. For many years, Martin was engaged in the garage business in Clarkfield and then worked at the local grain elevator for ten years. On June 27, 1922, he was united in holy wedlock to Ida Fosse of Boyd. This union was blessed with two sons, Dale of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Irving of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Rodness passed away July 6, 1959, at the Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 72 years, one month and four days. His wife and sons were at his bedside. Besides his wife and two sons, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathryn; three grandchildren, James, Sandra and Susan; one brother, Peter; and five sisters: Mabel, Sarah (Mrs. Clarence Grimley), Hilma (Mrs. Henry Williams), all of Clarkfield, Lina (Mrs. Carl Fransen) of Minneapolis, and Nettie (Mrs. Raycraft) of San Francisco, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Anton. IN MEMORY OF MARTIN H.
