Martin John Hansen was born near Clarkfield, Minnesota, April 26, 1889, to Hans and Maria (Boe) Hansen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. O.C. Farseth. At the early age of nine, his father passed away and three years later, he lost his mother. He then made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Freyer. At the age of 21, he worked in Minneapolis for about two years as a street car conductor. Later, in 1914, he filed a homestead in Montana, but returned to Minnesota in 1917 and was united in marriage to Amanda Josephine Larson. To this union, three children were born, namely, Chester of Boyd, Minnesota, Everett of Pacoima, California, and Harriet (Mrs. Lawrence Orres) of Clarkfield. Mr. Hansen began farming along with his auctioneering about 1918 and continued the latter even after his first surgery last August. However, he discontinued farming about ten years ago and has been serving as salesman for the Archer Oil Company. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, three children, five grandchildren, one half brother, Oscar Jelse, relatives and friends. Blessed be his memory. IN MEMORY OF MARTIN J.
