Martin O. Erie was born June 25, 1894, to parents Ole and Martha Erie at Adams, Minnesota. Martin was baptized in the Adams Lutheran Church. Soon after the family moved to Swede Prairie Township, he was confirmed in the Spring Creek Lutheran Church. Martin entered the Armed Forces and served in the major battles of World War I. He was married to Agnes Holm shortly after his discharge. To this union, seven children were born. He was custodian of the Clarkfield School for 36 years. Survivors include his wife Agnes; sons: Allan and Charles of Clarkfield, and Irvin of San Diego, California; daughters: Lois (Mrs. Joseph Mahoney) of Harrogate, England, and Gail (Mrs. Kenneth Kieffer) of Bolder Colorado; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lois (Derald) Erie; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Alfred of Alexandria, Minnesota; and one sister, Alma (Mrs. Edward Nelson) of St. Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jeanine and son Derrald; his parents, brothers and sisters. In Loving Memory of MARTIN O.
