Martha Wilson, the last surviving child of parents Halvor G. and Annie (Tongen) Wilson, was born in Hazel Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on June 13, 1884. She was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, Minnesota. She grew up on the farm home one mile east of Hazel Run, attending a country school a short distance from her home. She continued to live on the farm home with two brothers and a sister, after her parents moved to Hazel Run. After their death in 1936 and 1937, she also moved to Hazel Run, where she lived with her sister, Hilda and brother, August, and after their death, with the Chris Sannerud family. In 1959, she moved to a private nursing home in Sacred Heart, Minnesota. The past two years she has been a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center. Martha was a quiet, friendly person who was content to be of service to others with whom she lived. She was a member of the Free Church in Hazel Run and later of Hazel Run Lutheran Church, after the two congregations merged in 1923. She passed away on Tuesday morning, January 28, 1969, at the Clarkfield Care Center, at the age of 84 years. She is survived by four nephews and six nieces, namely: Vernon Wilson of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Harris Mikelson of Illinois, Richard Mikelson of Minneapolis, Larry Wilson of Downey, California, Lucille (Mrs. Lloyd Nelson) of Minneapolis, Muriel (Mrs. Myron Friberg) of Clarkfield, Evelyn (Mrs. Chester Dalager) of Minneota, Dorothy (Mrs. John Dyste) of Forman, North Dakota, Ruth (Mrs. Harold Ziemann) of Hudson, Wisconsin, Kathleen Wilson of Downey, California; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. L.A. Wilson, also of Downey, California. Her parents, five brothers: Ingval, Hans, Oscar, August and Lawrence; and two sisters: Hilda and Nettie (Mrs. E.P. Mikelson) preceded her in death.
