Services for Marta Marie Erickson of rural Minneota, Minnesota, were held on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., June 20, 1987, at St. Lucas Church, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She passed away at the Chippewa County Montevdieo Hospital on June 15, 1987. Pastor Richard Erickson from Minneota officiated at the service. Organist was Mrs. Ann Stensrud Soloist was Mr. Erling Kompelien Final Resting Place is the St. Lucas Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Casket bearers were Edward Traen, Cecil Hofteig, Hubert Hoff, Byron Kompelien, James Komplein, and John E. Josephson. Marta was born in Perstrop, Sweden on July 26, 1906. Her parents were Johan Bengston and Nilla (Olsdottir) Bengtson. She came to America in 1929 to join her brother and sister who had come earlier and lived in the Walnut Grove, Minnesota area. She worked for the Krute family in Marshall, Minnesota for a number of years. Marta and Harry Erickson were married on April 12, 1942, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove, Minnesota. Harry was a heavy road equipment operator and worked on the Alaskan highway, during the building of that road. After that was done they bought an 80 acre farm in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, and lived on and farmed the land. Her parents, brothers and sisters proceeded her in death.
