Marlow Omar Skaalen was born August 11, 1924, on the farm south of Boyd, Minnesota, to Henry and Martha (Jorgenson) Skaalen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd by Rev. Martin Lien. He was a veteran of WW II. Marlow was engaged in farming and spent his entire life on his parents farm south of Boyd. He was married to Lois Amsden, April 11, 1954. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Monica Lea. Marlow took ill three years ago with several strokes which paralyzed him on the left side. He recovered partially from that and then he had another stroke which took his speech, so he was not able to talk very distinct. But with the good help of his family and all the good friends, he was able to live a happy life. He passed away at his home on Saturday morning, March 6, 1982, at about one o'clock. At the time of his passing, he was 57 years 7 months and 17 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Monica Lea Lindemann; son-in-law, Charles Lindemann; two grandchildren, Chad and Cerissa; one sister, Gladys Just of Boyd; two brothers, Kenneth of Chicago, Illinois, and Hilman of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Also surviving him are two aunts, Thelma Kise of Boyd and Effie Risa of Hutchinson, Minnesota; uncle, Harry Jorgenson of Boyd; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. IN MEMORY OF MARLOW O.
