IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie (Knutson)
Rysdahl
July 23, 2016
Marjorie Rysdahl June 27th, 1934 - July 23rd, 2016 Marjorie Rysdahl, of Clarkfield, died Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82 with her husband by her side. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Pastor Chris Zuraff will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the services on Friday. Marjorie was born in Green Valley, Minnesota, before moving to Marshall, Minnesota, at one week old. She grew up in Marshall until after graduation when she headed out to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a year before marrying George Rysdahl on April 16th, 1955. After four years in Duluth, Minnesota, she moved with her family to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where she and George raised their children and together built a small construction company. She was one of five daughters: Margaret (twin), Dorthea, Judith, and Shirley, born to the late Stella and Art Knutson; the mother of six children: Scott (Gigi), Lesley, Lynnette (John), Kevin (Julie), Kelvin (Kirsten) and Stefanie (Joel); and wife for 61 years to George Rysdahl. Marjorie touched many lives through her smile and commitment to her faith, family and community. While not wanting to bring attention to herself, she was present for everyone who needed her. She was strong in spirit and soul. She loved to tell stories. Her stories reflected the important paths in her life including her childhood church, growing up with her sisters and her own family. Illnesses and injuries were a constant in her life starting at the age of one with scarlet fever and the age of nine with pneumonia. With various sicknesses (diabetes), surgeries, and numerous falls, (including a fall nine years ago on July 31st that led to major head trauma), she never let anything get in the way of her living. Marjorie enjoyed many things including camping, attending school activities, traveling, spending winters in Arizona, playing games and spending time with friends and family. Volunteering was also a very important part of her life. She served on many boards and committees. She went on two mission trips to Haiti as well as two Habitat for Humanity trips to Mississippi. Surviving along with her husband, sisters, and children are her fourteen grandchildren; David, Gabriel, Isaac, Kaye, Joseph, Jennifer, Luke, Grace, Ryan, Leanna, Annika, Sidney, Tessa, and Bryson. Marjorie is preceded in death by her daughter, Lesley; and mother and father, Stella and Art Knutson. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
