Marit Drange was born January 24, 1896, in Baxter Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Ragnild (Stigen) Johnson. She received Christian baptism in February, 1896, Rev L.M. Hoff, pastor. She was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Baxter on August 14, 1910, by Rev. S. O. Rontestvedt. She attended grade school 30 in the same Township, and later was graduated from Dawson High School, and Teachers Training Department. She then taught school for a number of years in Lac qui Parle, Chippewa, and Yellow Medicine Counties. On October 19, 1924, she was married to John Drange of Boyd, Minnesota, with G.S. Froiland the officiating pastor. To their union four children were born, one passed away in infancy; Marjorie passed away in 1955, and Julien in 1957; Allen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, survives. She was a member of the Hazel Run Community for thirty-three years and a member of Hazel Run Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Mr. and Mrs. Drange made their home in Dawson, Minnesota from 1927 to 1930, and in Hazel Run from 1931 to 1964. For the past six years Mrs. Drange had been in failing health, with much time spent in the hospital the past two years. Mrs. Drange passed away November 21, 1964, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 68 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marie and Anna. Beside her husband and son, she is surved by two grandchildren; a sister, Regina Hanson of Sanish, North Dakota, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
