(Hagan) Odden
February 17, 1898 – November 8, 1970
Marion Pearl Hagan Odden was born February 17, 1898, in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Peder M. and Karen (Erickson) Hagan. She was baptized at home by Rev. E.M. Petterson and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in the Hauge Bethlehem Church near Hazel Run, Minnesota, by Rev. J.G. Oppedahl. She attended school in District No. 28 and in Clarkfield. She clerked at the Hazel Run Farmer Store. Marion at one time sang with the Hagan Quartet in Spring Creek Church and surrounding areas. She played the organ several times in church and for weddings of friends. She was united in marriage to Steinar Odden, September 25, 1918, at her parents home, officiated by Rev. P.O. Wee. The couple farmed near Hanley Falls, Minnesota, three years, then moved near Hazel Run and resided there until his death in 1962. Since then she has lived with her son, Charles. To this union six children were born. She had been ailing for several years and became ill October 8, 1970, and was taken to the Clarkfield Community Hospital where she passed away November 8, 1970, at 9 a.m., at the age of 72 years. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a good friend to anyone she met. Surving are her children: Harold of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Carrol (Mrs. Melford Iverson) of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, Orville of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Charles of Hazel Run, Erma (Mrs. Harry Iverson) of Echo, Minnesota, Alice (Mrs. Darwin Vick) of Astoria, South Dakota; 18 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. L.A. Cliffgard of Clarkfield; an aunt, Mrs. Mathilda Burlingham of Luther Haven, Montevideo, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steinar in 1962; parents, father in 1936, mother in 1950; twin sister, Minnie in 1951; brother, Edgar in 1964; and half brothers, Martin in 1947 and Oscar in 1922.
