Marie A. Glaim was born in Alesund, Norway, on October 8, 1887. At the age of sixteen, she came to the United States with her Aunt and worked in the Clarkfield, Minnesota area until her marriage to Hellick J. Glaim on October 28, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Glaim continued living in the Clarkfield area until Mr. Glaim's death in 1948. After Mr. Glaim's death, Marie was employed in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area for sixteen years as a companion and housekeeper for several prominent families and spent part of her summers at her home in Swede Prairie Township near Clarkfield. After her retirement, Marie had been making her home with some of her children in South Dakota, California and Minnesota. Marie A. Glaim passed away at the United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 6, 1983, at the age of 96. Surviving Mrs. Glaim are seven children, Conrad Glaim of College Place, Washington, Mrs Harry (Evangeline) Schaub of Roseville, Minnesota, Selmer (Sam) Glaim of Rapid City, South Dakota, Helmer Glaim of St. Paul, Kenneth Glaim of Brookings, South Dakota, Mrs. R.D. (Ruth) Fossler of Burbank, California, and Mrs. W.E. (Esther) Arneson of San Clemente, California; brother, Anton Emblem of Portland, Oregon; a foster son, Arthur Morris of North Dakota; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and two nephews.
