Marie Kathryn (Brockman) Stengel of Rural Hanley Falls, Minnesota, was born December 10, 1936, to Leo and Rhoda M. (Olson) Brockman at Echo Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized January 10, 1937, and confirmed on April 2, 1950. She attended school and graduated from the Echo High School. She married Loren Stengel on August 20, 1955, at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo, Minnesota. Blessed to this union were five children. Marie was a homemaker, 4-H leader, worked in the Granite Falls Hospital and for the last several years has worked for the North Star Insurance Company of Cottonwood, Minnesota. Marie, 51, died Friday, May 20, 1988, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Mary Ellen, her father and grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Rhoda Brockman of Echo; her husband Loren of Hanley Falls; four children and their spouses, Gene and Pam Stengel of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Kathleen and Gene Stoel of Tyler, Minnesota, Allen and Patricia Stengel of Hanley Falls, and Julie and Scott Randt of Maynard, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and three brothers, Dean Brockman of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Jon Brockman of Echo, and Steve Brockman of Cottonwood. Funeral services were held Monday, May 23, 1988, 10:30 a.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church of Granite Falls with Pastor Wayne Anderson officiating. Organist was Colleen Hewitt. Soloist was Mary Hammer, singing "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "In Times Like These". Congregational Hymns were ""How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Casket Bearers are Gordon Hewitt, Rick Hewitt, Steve Remiger, Allen Velde, Gary Velde and Brian Waller. Final Resting Place at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Granite Falls, Minnesota.
