Marian Edith Christine Brandt was born at Burr, Minnesota, on May 12, 1919, to Peter and Mary (Younker) Brandt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Canby, Minnesota. On September 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Arly Swanson. They were married for 55 years. To this union two children were born, Larry and Karen. They farmed for 42 years and then moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota, in December of 1980. She worked as a waitress, cook and the last ten years at Granite Falls Manor in the activities department. Marian passed away on Thursday, March 3, 1994, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was 74 years old. Marian is survived by husband; Arly, son Larry and wife Sharon of Greely, Colorado, Karen and husband Cecil Lade of Zimmerman, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Jeff and wife (Daun) Swanson of Greely, Colorado, Shelly Swanson of Soiux Falls, South Dakota, Lisa and husband Darrell Sanders of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and Jocelyn Papesh of Clear Lake, Minnesota; one great grandson; nine step-grandchildren; and eleven step-great grandchildren. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
