Marguerite, "Marge", Carlson was born on March 14, 1913 to Benjamin and Callie (Urquhart) Purdy in Sterling Oklahoma. She was baptized in the Christian fiath and confirmed on June 2, 1957 at Christ Lutheran Church of Cottonwood. Marge and Randal Rickard were married on August 16, 1930. To this union four children were born. Randal passed away in 1956. In June of 1979, Marge and Carl Carlson were united in marriage at Christ Lutheran Church. She was a Beautician in Cottonwood for 20 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, of WELCA, and the Altar Guild. Marge also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and on the Board of Senior Dining. Marguerite passed away on October 26, 1994 at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 12 days. She is survived by her four children, one son and three daughters with their spouses: Reed and Betty Lovsness, Bonnie and Gordon Knutson, Joyce and Doug Warnke all of Cottonwood and son Randal and Jean Rickard of Marshall. Also 17 Grandchildren and spouses and six Great Grandchildren and two sisters, both of Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, an infant child, two brothers, and one granddaughter. Funeral services for Marguerite (Marge) Carlson will be Saturday, October 29, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. Burial will be at St. Lucas Lutheran Cemetery of Normania Township. Visitation will be on Friday, October 28, 1994 beginning at 7:00 p.m. with a Family Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
