Margaret Martin June 10th, 1919 - March 19th, 2017 Margaret Martin, of Hazel Run, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 97. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minnesota, with Rev. Robert Vedell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Margaret Edna (Vien) Martin was born on June 10, 1919, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Ludvig and Millie (Dotseth) Vien. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. She attended school in Clarkfield and graduated in 1932. She married Wilfred Martin on June 10, 1939, at the St. Lucas Lutheran Church parsonage. They made their home in Hazel Run and had two sons, Lyle and Howard. Besides raising her family Margaret worked at the Clarkfield Care Center kitchen for many years. Margaret enjoyed doing yard work, hardanger and was an avid Pinochle player. She was a longtime member of Hazel Run Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Ladies Aid and quilting. She also sold Avon for several years and made great friends doing so. Family remembers that Margaret was a wonderful cook and would enjoy any dish she would prepare. Margaret is survived by her sons: Lyle (Doris) Martin and Howard (Jeryl) Martin; grandchildren: Greg (fiancé Marne Reiner) Martin, Jodi (Scott) Sneller, Amy (Nick) Lukken, Emily (David) Martin and Adam (Jamie) Martin; great-grandchildren: Zach Martin, Hunter Martin, Jackson Martin, Ashly (Garret) Cole, Marissa Sneller, Carter Sneller, Keegan Long, Jayden Lukken, Austin Martin, Hadley Martin, Blake Wells, Jaxton Wells and Nolan Johnson; sister-in-law, Hazel Martin; as well as other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfred; brothers: Francis, Hiraim and Leslie Vien; sisters, Elmira Hanson, Violet Daman and Jean Lundstrom; and two great-grandchildren: Halie Sneller and Elizabeth Martin.
