Margaret Norgard was born November 25, 1907 at her parents home near Cottonwood, MN. She was the daughter of Ole and Sena (Barstad) Anderson. She was baptized at Silo Lutheran Church, Cottonwood, on January 26, 1908 and confirmed on June 25, 1922 at the same church. Margaret attended school in Cottonwood. As a young woman, she worked as a baker at Nelson Cafe in Cottonwood and also at the Marshall Cafe for many years. Margaret married Ted Norgard on September 20, 1941 at the Silo Lutheran parsonage. They lived in Hanley Falls where Ted owned a plumbing business. Margaret belonged to the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid, The Hanley Falls Senior Citizens, the Hanley Falls Legion Auxiliary and Pioneer Power. She loved gardening and doing handiwork until her arthritis made it hard for her. Margaret passed away at her home in Hanley Falls on Saturday morning, August 10, 1996 at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 16 days. She is survived by one sister Christine Okrina of Cottonwood, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Ted, Sister Marie Garry and brothers Swen, Andrew and Edward. Blessed be her memory.
