Margaret Henrietta (Evers) Gniffke was born on July 7, 1929, at Comfrey, Minnesota, to John H. and Henrietta (Siefkes) Evers. After graduating from high school she attended Mankato State College. She began her teaching career in 1949 at Cottonwood, Minnesota. On July 7, 1951, Margaret was united in marriage to Elton Gniffke at Comfrey. This union was blessed with three children. She taught elementary school in Clarkfield, Minnesota, for several years. In 1983 she began work as a Federal Crop Insurance Agent in Clarkfield and remained there until her death. Margaret loved doing all kinds of crafts, gardening and baking. It is said that she would stop for any and all "Garage Sale" signs. She was also active in church activities at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of Normania Township. On Sunday, March 3, 1991, Margaret died at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 61 as the result of heart problems. She is survived by her husband, Elton of Clarkfield; daughters, Denise and her husband, Delbert Schaefer of Dawson, Minnesota, Sherry and her husband, Michael Boyd of Englewood, Ohio; son, Steven and his wife, Deborah Gniffke of Cottonwood, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jackie and Chris Schaefer, Michael and Jenny Boyd, Erik, Ryan and Chelsey Gniffke; sister, Arlene Fox of Madelia, Minnesota; and brother, Robert Evers of Comfrey. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her stepmother, Wilhelmina.
