IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mandt Roy
Hanson
November 17, 1893 – October 15, 1966
M. Roy Hanson was the oldest son and the second child in the family of nine children of Hans R. and Malena (Vik) Hanson. He was born November 17, 1893, at Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was baptized by Rev. Farseth on December 9, 1893, at the now Clarkfield Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the same church July 8, 1908, by Rev. Storaasli, and where he has been a life member. On September 8, 1922, he was united in marriage to Anna Peterson. This union was blessed with three children: Doris, Arvey and Marilyn. He attended the Agriculture School at the University of Minnesota and later was a sergeant in the Quartermaster Corps of the U.S. Army during World War I. For a time he worked on silo construction in South Dakota and Minnesota. Most of his life was spent operating the family homestead in Lisbon Township until his retirement in 1960, when he and his wife moved to the present home in Clarkfield. He served on the church parish board, over 25 years on both the Lisbon Township and the creamery board, the Federal Land Bank and FHA boards; was a charter member of the J. Ben Johnson Post of the American Legion, for which he was presented his 45 year pin last fall. Seven years ago Mr. Hanson suffered a paralytic stroke and since that time has been unable to carry on his former active life, but his patience was remarkable and he loved to visit his many relatives and friends. He passed away October 15, 1966, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, having reached the age of 72 years. Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Anna; three children: Doris (Mrs. George Hagedon) of Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Arvey of Clarkfield, and Marilyn (Mrs. George Gossler) of Burlingame, California; three sisters: Annie (Mrs. Martin G. Jurgenson), Gerti (Mrs. N.E. Nelson), both of Clarkfield, and Rachel (Mrs. Ray Friberg) of Eugene, Oregon; two brothers: Theodore Hanson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Kenneth Hanson of Clarkfield; seven grandchildren: Signe, Shawn and Sam Hagedon, Sylvia, Allen and Catherine Hanson and Kim Gossler; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Rachel in infancy, and Malene; and his brother, Miller Hanson.
