Magnus Martin
Haga
February 3, 1907 – February 21, 1925
Magnus Martin Haga was born in Sandnes, Norway, February 3, 1907, to Martin and Maria (Velde) Haga. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hoyland Lutheran Church in Norway. Magnus left Norway at the age of 17 and arrived in America on February 21, 1925. He became a U.S. citizen on June 17, 1930. He worked for Uncle Ole Velde, Sam Anderson, and Hans Skulstad, who was an uncle to Dora Rosetter. He married Dora Rosetter at the Rosetter Home on New Years Day 1931. They farmed in Stony Run Township for 40 years, renting farms from Olai Hagen and Andrew Volstead. They bought the original Olai Eid farm and farmed it until 1970. With help from friends, neighbors and family, Dora and Magnus moved into the Riverview Apartments in Granite Falls in 1989 where they resided for four years. In 1993, both came to Clarkfield Care Center for their final rest. Besides farming, Magnus drove school bus, worked at the Montevideo Corn Factory, Township Assessor for 27 years, ASC Office in Clarkfield for 31 years, Township Board for 15 years, weed inspector for 31 years, corn checker, and County Drain Ditch Viewer for 15 years. Magnus was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Martin and Trygve of Norway and wife Dora in 1993. He is survived by sisters, Klara Sabo of Crosby, North Dakota, Torborg Hoyland of Dillon, Montana; a younger brother Torvold, and sisters, Kristine, Martha, and Kari all of Norway. Also surviving are children, Carol Schlenner of Wood Lake, Minnesota, Curtis Haga of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Judy Lane of Powell, Wyoming and grandchildren Steve Schlenner, Florence, South Dakota, Wendy Hoepner, Echo, Minnesota, Tim Schlenner, Wood Lake, Minnesota, John Haga, Denver, Colorado, Kari Haga, Missoula, Montana, Doug Lane, Jacksonville, Florida, Martin Lane, St. George, Utah; and Great grandchildren, Lindsey and Ashley Schlenner, Florence, South Dakota, Matt and Heidi Jo Hoepner, Echo. Magnus was very proud of his farm and trees. He loved his family and visiting with everyone. It was his final hearts desire to go to his real home in heaven. His final words and wish were "I want to go home."
