Mrs. J.M. (Magdalena) Eischens, 100, formerly of St. Leo, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 1988 at the Canby Nursing Home, Canby, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 1988, from the St. Leo Catholic Church, St. Leo, Minnesota, with Father Robert Mraz officiating. Organist for the services was Timothy Eischens. Final Resting Place was in the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery, St. Leo, Minnesota. Serving as Casket Bearers were Laurence Braun, Curtis, Howard and LeRoy Eischens, Eugene Jelen, John Kapolczynski, Lambert Roles, Allen Sanow and Kenneth Troye. Magdalena was born in St. Leo on September 5, 1888, to Anton and Susanna Baierl. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Leo Catholic Church and attended school in St. Leo. On February 3, 1909, she was united in marriage to John M. Eischens in St. Leo. She lived on the farm with her husband, and later with her son Herman, until 1977 when she moved in to St. Leo to live with her daughter and son-in-law the Henry Braun's. In 1984 she entered the Canby Nursing Home. Magdelena was a member of the Catholic Aid Association and the Christian Mothers Society. Magdalena is survived by ten of her twelve children, Susan Beck of Taunton, Minnesota, Josephine Troye of St. Paul, Minnesota, Joseph Eischens of Dawson, Minnesota, Genevieve and Albert Jelen of St. Leo, Florence and Henry Braun of St. Leo, Magdalene Kapolczynski of New Ulm, Minnesota, Bernice and Eugene Roles of Minneota, Minnesota, Lillian and Sylvester Sanow of Minneota, Minnesota, Mervin and Velma Eischens of St. Leo and Silverius and Marcella Eischens of Pipestone, Minnesota. She is also survived by two daughter-in-laws, Leona Eischens of Minneota and Ethel Eischens of Clarkfield, Minnesota, along with 71 grandchildren, 176 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; two sons, Clarence and Herman; three sons-in-law, Martin Beck, William Kapolczynski and Fred Troye; and one daughter-in-law Eleanor Eischens.
