Obituary

Mrs. Albert (Mae) Christensen passed away Saturday evening, March 8, 1975, at the age of 74 years at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, Minnesota, where she had been a resident the past year. Mrs. Christensen, the second child in the family, was born June 12, 1900, to Christian and Ellen (Youngmark) Olson, and was baptized Mae Eleanor Olson by Pastor Shaleen at the Swede Home Lutheran Church. In 1902 the family moved to Clinton, Minnesota, returning here in 1906. In 1908 the family moved to Barnsville, Minnesota, again returning in 1912 where the father was engaged in construction and lumber business. The family home is now the home of the only surviving member, Harriet Olson. Mae was confirmed in the Swedish language at the town church now known as the Augustana Lutheran with Pastor Scholander in charge. She graduated from Clarkfield High School with the class of 1918. Mae loyally served the community for 17 years as the assistant of the late Dr. M.M. Hauge, answering calls night and day and then in the early years of the local hospital. On October 15, 1933, she was united in marriage to Albert Christensen of this rural community. They began life together on his farm in Swede Prairie Township where they remained until moving to Clarkfield in 1967. Last September they sold their home due to her poor health as she was a resident of Luther Haven and he took up his residency at Brookside Manor in order to be near her. Besides her husband, three daughters, with their husbands survive her passing: Lois (Mrs. Robert Andrews) of Pebble Beach, California, Nordis (Mrs. Rogert Schrankler) of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Gayle (Mrs. Sargit Bupara) of Columbus, Ohio. Mae is also survived by her sister, Harriet Olson; and five grandchildren: Kara and Kristen Andrews and Randy, Reed and Ross Schrankler. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Elmer and Herbert Olson. Mae was an active member of the Spring Creek Lutheran Church and its auxiliary organizations. She was a member of the Clarkfield Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Friendship Group of the Clarkfield Community Hospital Auxiliary. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
