Mae Lorinda (Broughton) Wegener was born November 8, 1910, the daughter of Andrew K. and Ida (Hanson) Broughton, near Cottonwood, Minnesota. She grew up in the rural Cottonwood area and graduated from Minneota High School, Minneota, Minnesota. Mae was united in marriage to Harold H. Wegener on September 16, 1937, at the parsonage in Cottonwood. Harold and Mae were blessed with a son, Paul Harold. They farmed the farm where Mae grew up their entire life. Mae was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She enjoyed reading. She became a resident of the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1996, following the death of her husband, Harold. She passed away Sunday morning, December 31, 2000, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 24 days. She is survived by her son, Paul (and Marian) Wegener of Merrill, Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Leah (and Matthew) Burbach and Sarah Wegener; and one great grandson, Jacob. She is also survived by one sister, Agnes Severson; two brothers, Carl and Henry (and Myrna) Broughton; sisters-in-law Delora Broughton and Bernice Broughton; and several nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; brothers William and Alvin; sister-in-law Harriet Broughton; and brother-in-law Raymond Severson. Blessed be her memory.
