Mrs. Lucien Verkinderen, 47, a resident of Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Sunday, September 24, 1967, after an illness of several years. Madeleine Vandamme Verkinderen was born April 8, 1920, at Roeselaere, Belgium. She came with her parents Leon and Eliza (Deswarte) Vandamme to East Moline, Illinois. On November 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lucien Verkinderen at St. Mary's Catholic Church at East Moline, Illinois. The couple resided in Illinois until moving to this area in 1946 where they have since farmed. She passed away on September 24, 1967, at the age of 47 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Vandamme on October 3, 1959, and by her mother, Eliza Vandamme on October 6, 1966. Left to mourn her early departure are her husband, Lucien Verkinderen; one daughter, Doreen, at home; four sons: Richard and Maurice of Mankato, Minnesota, Joseph of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Robert at home; seven grandchildren; and three sisters: Alida (Mrs. Bernard Rossi) of Moline, Illinois, Bertha (Mrs. Ben Womack) and Anne (Mrs. George Miller) of East Moline, Illinois.
